In 2024, we launched our first music bursaries to ensure every child, regardless of background, can pursue their musical passion. Partnering with Camden Music, we are fostering young talent and helping children experience the transformative power of music.
Beyond the joy of playing, learning an instrument enhances mental wellbeing and builds essential life skills such as resilience, teamwork, and self-discipline. Group sessions further enrich this experience, offering children a sense of community and the chance to forge lasting friendships through a shared love of music.
Our music bursaries provide recipients with private lessons for a full academic year, access to a musical group, and free instrument hire if needed. These bursaries typically begin in Year 5, and our goal is to continue supporting students through their secondary education should they wish to continue.
Additionally, we have funded emergency bursaries for students who completed their four-year London Music Fund (LMF) scholarships, which supports pupils from Years 6-9. These students come from families who would not be able to pick up the cost, and we’re glad to be working with Camden Music to ensure their musical journey continues.
Among the talented students we’re supporting are a promising singer-songwriter, a dedicated violinist active in both Camden Music and school string groups, and a skilled percussionist!
One parent shared, “The bursary has been a great help financially, and music has been a valuable coping mechanism for her.” While another noted, “Lessons have boosted her confidence, and developing her impressive musical ear supports her mental health and wellbeing.”
By nurturing these young musicians, we’re not just creating opportunities for personal growth—we’re empowering a generation to find joy, resilience, and connection through music.
