An opportunity for self expression and creative experimentation
As part of our mission to support young creative talent and work with the local community, we partner with the Royal College of Art to engage MA graduates at the outset of their art careers, bringing them into dialogue with A-level students at a local school.
Spatial Value @ KOKO
Now in its second year, two MA graduates from the School of Arts and Humanities, RCA, have been awarded a grant to develop an outreach project focusing on art education for young people within the local Camden community, working closely with RCA CCA alumna, Brenna Horrox, who curates and facilitates the programme’s delivery.
A-level art students are invited to participate in a series of hands-on workshops over the course of four months, exploring film and narrative. The sessions use non-conventional methods and materials, often stemming from diverse localities of knowledge to experiment and develop new imaginaries and narratives. The project encourages students to work collaboratively, exploring script, camera technique, lighting, costume, sets, storytelling, and alternative histories. The course culminates in the production of a series of films, which were screened at The House of KOKO in spring 2025 and showcased in the student’s school.
